Well, you know what? You never stop learning. There’s always a tip you haven’t heard which could really improve your hunting.

Luckily for you, I’ve got a few tips to share that you may not be aware of.

Low Temperatures Bring Geese to Their Bellies

You may not have noticed, but if the temperature is heading towards 20 degrees, or there’s snow on the ground, geese tend to lie down after landing.

You know what this means, don’t you? Arrange your decoys accordingly!

Try removing the bases from some of your decoys and lying them on the ground belly down. You can really engender trust and security with your targets by mimicking this behavior. Learn some more about the basics of goose hunting, including setting up decoys!

Use a Scarecrow to Encourage Movement

Scarecrows don’t just scare crows, you know! They also scare geese!

That’s why I think it’s a great idea for you to start using them.

You see, by scaring geese from out of one cornfield, you’re encouraging them to head to a safer field.

And that field is the one that’s got your decoys set up to indicate a lack of danger.

Don’t Give up When There’s Fog

You know as well as I do that fog is one of a hunter’s biggest enemies. Reduced visibility means you may as well pack up and go home.

But does it really end your days shooting before it’s started? Of course not!

This is because geese are a bit like you. They’re not keen on the fog and it really puts them off feeding.

However, once the fog clears they’re more likely to come swooping down into major food areas.

As long as you’ve hung in there then you’ll find large numbers of hungry geese heading towards your location.
